Are you looking for a good movie to watch this January but you're tired of the usual Hollywood sewage? Were you looking forward to Ridley Scott's movie Exodus: Gods and Kings but disappointed by his constant departures from the real story? Ever wonder whether the stories in the book of Exodus were all real historical events or just artistic license?
We encourage you to check out the movie Patterns of Evidence: Exodus!
This film is a documentary that tackles some tough questions and interviews a variety of Egyptologists, archaeologists, and historians. Is there any evidence that the twelve tribes of Jacob were ever living in Egypt? that they became prosperous and then became slaves? that their young boys were murdered? that any great plagues and calamities fell upon the Egyptians? that the Hebrews suddenly left Egypt? that they ever made it to Canaan? Why do so many experts say there is no such evidence for any of this? And why is there so much evidence that most of us have never heard about?
This is a daring attempt
to coax the truth out of the controversy. It provides some tantalizing
evidence and challenges some standardized assumptions. It won the
admiration of several noteworthy Bible scholars such as Dr. Walter
Kaiser, Dr. Norman Geisler, Dr. Joseph Holden, and several others. But
it's done in a sufficiently balanced way that most of the majority of
atheists who previewed the movie also enjoyed its intrigue.
It's coming to 700 theaters on January 19th. If it gets a good turnout during opening week it may make it to more theaters. We encourage you to check it out, tell your pastor about it, and bring your friends!
